During breast reduction surgery, the surgeon removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body. The procedure may also include repositioning the nipple and areola to a more natural position.

The recovery period varies for each patient. To minimize swelling, a compression garment is worn post surgery and vigorous exercise is completely off-limits within the first 3 to 4 weeks. The total healing time can be anything from 7 weeks to 10 weeks.
