Ideal Candidate Profile

This surgery is highly customizable taking into account the needs of the patient. The ideal patient for this surgery is anyone who has lost between 30 to 50 percent of their body weight. As with all plastic surgery candidates, the patient must have undergone a mental health evaluation and be determined to follow the recovery protocol to the letter.

You may be a good candidate for Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy) if you:

  • Weight loss due to Bariatric surgery (Gastroplasty)
  • Committed to maintaining excellent nutrition and exercise
  • Do not plan on becoming pregnant after the surgery
  • Suffer from drooping skin, fat and tissue around the abdomen

When Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy) May Not Be Right for You

Dr. Maresky takes a conservative approach and will honestly advise if a procedure is not the best path forward. You may not be a candidate if you:

  • Have unrealistic expectations about what surgery can achieve
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy soon
  • Have active infections or unmanaged chronic conditions
  • Are a current heavy smoker unwilling to quit before surgery
  • Are primarily seeking surgery to meet someone else's expectations

The Best Way to Know

Even if you check every box above, the only way to know for certain whether Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy) is right for you is through an in-person examination and honest conversation with Dr. Gideon Maresky. He will assess your anatomy, discuss your goals, and recommend the most appropriate approach — even if that means advising against surgery.
